KEYSTORM needs JavaScript

KEYSTORM is a free typing game. Words fall towards you as enemy ships and typing them shoots them down. The game is drawn on an HTML canvas and runs entirely in your browser, so JavaScript has to be enabled for it to start.

With it switched on you get four difficulties, a daily challenge seeded from the date so every player gets the same run, three-player co-op and versus, and a report showing which keys you personally keep missing.

Quick reference

If this is your first run, everything below fits in about thirty seconds of reading. If it is not, the links at the foot go deeper.

The three rules

A word's first letter locks onto that ship.
Each correct letter after that fires. Complete the word to destroy it.
A wrong key zeroes your combo, and the combo multiplies your score up to 8x.

Two ships never share a starting letter, so a keypress can only ever mean one target.

Keys

Letters play the game. Nothing else is needed.
Escape pauses, and goes back one step on any menu.
Enter confirms, arrows move between options.
R on the results screen opens your key report.

Worth knowing early

Take the lowest target first. Height is your only real clock.
Kill splitters high, because each one becomes two faster fragments.
Never ignore a diver. It accelerates while you are locked elsewhere.
Power-ups cost nothing if you let them fall, so take them only when you have a moment.
